St. Philips is excited about being able to serve as an example in their community, both geographic and ecclesial, for how an institution can take meaningful steps towards reducing carbon impact on the climate.
“St. Philip’s has been exploring solar for many years, beginning before my moving to Brevard 11 years ago. As with many things that involve corporate decision making, past efforts didn’t move past the discussion stage. We have always been motivated to be better stewards of creation, known as “Creation Care” in the Episcopal Church, but it was the impending end of federal tax credits that moved me to push the effort with some urgency beginning in early 2025.”
Community centers are all about bringing people together, and solar power is a great way to support that mission while reducing operating costs. This system features 89 SEG 430-watt solar panels paired with 34.6 kW of SolarEdge inverters, delivering substantial clean energy that can significantly reduce electricity expenses.
By installing the system on the roof, the center was able to maximize existing space without impacting recreational areas, parking, or future site development. Roof-mounted solar makes use of otherwise unused space while maintaining a clean, low-profile appearance.
The energy savings generated by the system can help free up resources for programs, events, and services that directly benefit the community. In addition to the financial advantages, the system reduces the facility’s carbon footprint and demonstrates a commitment to sustainability for our planet. With opportunities for net metering, available incentives, and decades of renewable energy production, this investment will provide value to the community for years to come.
